As Director of the Department of Conservation, Bridgett Luther oversees a budget of $1.3 billion for a wide range of programs including land resource protection, beverage container recycling, geologival survey, mine reclamation, and oversight for oil, gas, and geothermal production. Previously she was the national development director for REP America (Republicans for Environmental Protection), which supports pro-environment Republicans. She helped create the first recycling program in the history of North Carolina's Mechlenburg County, led campaigns to create neighborhood parks and acquire land to protect the region's water quality, and founded the Carolinas office of the Trust for Public Land, a national land conservation organization.

Laurie Park

Laurie Park has more than 25 years of experience in the planning and management of energy and water resources and infrastructure. She assisted the California Energy Commission in developing its recent landmark finding that signficant benefits could be achieved through integrated management of the State's water and energy systems. Ms. Park is the chief architect and Program Manager of the California Sustainability Alliance, an initiative that brings together diverse public and private entities to collaborate in finding and leveraging the "tipping points" to market transformation around sustainability. Prior to joining Navigant Consulting, she managed Hetch Hetchy, San Francisco's $100 million water and power facility.

Michelle Wyman has extensive global experience in sustainable development, environmental management systems, and domestic and international public management. Before joining ICLEI, she was the Director of the Natural Resources Department for the City of Fort Collins, Colorado. Ms. Wyman previously worked for Reed Smith LLP, a law firm in Washington, D.C., where she established a practice in sustainable development and environmental resource management for public-sector clients. She has been a consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and International City/County Manager’s Association (ICMA).

Peter Smith joined Pataki-Cahill after serving as the President and CEO of the New York State Energy and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for nearly four years. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Smith led the effort to establish the nation’s first clean energy technology park. As a member of Governor Pataki's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) leadership team, he directed NYSERDA's analysis and modeling of the region's electric generating system to determine the emission reductions, potential wholesale price impacts and fuel mix effects necessary to meet the carbon reduction goals of RGGI. He is the President of the Board of Directors of the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, and a board member for the Alliance to Save Energy.

Roger Duncan manages strategic planning, government relations, on-site generation, demand-side management, and green building for Austin Energy. Mr. Duncan also serves on the Board of Directors of the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, the Electric Drive Transportation Association, and The Public Sustainability Partnership. He was recognized as one of the “Top 20 Individual Carbon Reducers” in the world in the December 2005 issue of Business Week magazine. Mr. Duncan is director of the Plug-In Partners campaign, a national campaign led by the City of Austin to persuade automakers to manufacture plug-in hybrid vehicles, and to persuade lawmakers to provide incentives for plug-in hybrids.

Sheila Hollis specializes in domestic and international energy, water and environmental matters. She was the first Director of the Office of Enforcement of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the first woman to serve as President of the Federal Energy Bar Association. She served as President of the Women’s Council on Energy and the Environment from 1997-2002 and received its Woman of the Year award in 2003. She is the first person to serve as both President of the Energy Bar and Chair of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources. Ms. Hollis was ranked by the National Law Journal as one of the Nation’s top 20 energy lawyers and one of “50 Key Women in Energy” in 2003 and 2004 in a worldwide selection process.

Bill Becker's leadership will result in a plan designed to help the next President of the United States jump-start federal leadership on global warming during his or her first 100 days in office. Previously, Mr. Becker worked for 15 years with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he became the principal expert on sustainable community development. He founded and directed DOE's Center of Excellence for Sustainable Development and its Smart Communities Network Website, the "granddaddy" of on-line resources about sustainable communities. Mr. Becker’s diverse career has also included stints as senior advisor to the Global Energy Center for Community Sustainability and as an adjunct faculty member for the Colorado Energy Research Institute.
